I’ve chosen to define my photography by using family heirlooms and will use a fine art approach to create still life. I’ve shot in Raw for the first time.
The narrative begins with my grandfather Gilbert who receives a returned letter which he wrote to his brother Percy, fighting in WW1. Sadly it says ‘killed in action’ across the front. Gilbert joins up, underage and goes to France.
He is sustained by his sweetheart Bessie and sends many love tokens but on his return he marries Naomi, who gives him a daughter, but sadly she later dies.
He finds his first love and marries her – she eventually became my Nan.
The daughter, my mother, grows up and as WW2 approaches she joins the Land Army and works on a poultry farm and meets a local lad. He goes to war and sends her many letters, and later they marry.
